Arabic Manuscript

Oriental Studies: The Arabic Manuscript Culture

Arabic manuscripts were written "from back to front". But where could you read title and author? How long did the medium of print need to prevail? How wide is the contentual range? We give account of the general appearance, the contentual range of Arabic manuscripts (based on originals) and of Koran Manuscripts that weren't meant to be read. But which purpose did they serve then?
